December Garden Update

The only downside to having a bigger garden means needing more sheets on those frost advisory nights :-/

First haul from the green beans:

People were right, fresh green beans are the bomb. We had these for dinner tonight. I am not sure if there will be more growing since I picked these or if I need to plant more little bushes in the future.

Tomatoes:

These are the same vines I planted last winter/spring. If you can nurture them through Arizona summers they will produce again in the fall. I was wondering when they were going to turn red and then realized that it’s the heat that makes them do that. So I have some supposedly ripening on my countertop in the kitchen…we’ll see how that goes. I hope it works, because there are a bunch of good-sized fruit on the vines right now.

Let the record state that Evan does not support urban foraging…but I am of the persuasion that no good pomegranate should be wasted. If you have a tree that hangs over a fence, and you neglect that hanging fruit, I’m going to partake.

Poms rock!
