I’d hoped to have more accomplished by now but the heat has been…hot, and now it’s dark out once I put Patrick in bed so I need to figure out WHEN I can work on the garden some more.

Here is the cleared out area.  I moved the rock (thankfully when it was cooler out) to another area of the yard where it was kinda thin.

It’s hard to tell, but this is an 11ft x 8ft area of new soil just next to where the planter box is.  The box part is gone, and I’m hoping to fill in all the “empty” areas with good soil and plants.

Yesterday I planted green beans, tomatillos, bok choy, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, carrots, and edamame.  Our planting season is quite long, and every 2 weeks I hope to add a few more seeds and more veggies, so that we can space out what we grow and have a lot of variety.  I learned the hard way to put taller plants further north, because in the winter the sun is pretty far south, and the tall plants shade the shorties, and then they don’t get enough sun.

PS: there is plenty of room for a chicken coop.  Just sayin’!
